A Giant Difference Software

Giant's proprietary technology is based upon advanced tracking and analysis algorithms and a sophisticated suite of software tools that enable 3D professionals to create the highest quality character animation easier and faster than ever before.

Giant's motion capture technology is comprised of hundreds of thousands of lines of code that define the human skeleton in scientifically accurate detail. Bone length, density, connectivity, and rotation properties are all specifically defined. All of these properties can be modified to mirror the appropriate skeletal set-up for any mechanism that needs to be animated.

Our performance capture approach is fundamentally different from competing hardware-driven solutions that use powerful digital cameras to capture a point cloud of marker data in 3D space. This often results in character animation that more closely resembles puppetry, as opposed to the organic, more accurate character animation that Giant delivers. Because Giant's solution is software driven, using sophisticated proprietary algorithms to define specific bone lengths and motion parameters of each performer as well as the customization of each character skeleton to be captured, Giant more faithfully captures the unique motion signature of each performer.

Benefits to Filmmakers Real Time & Multiple Characters

Because Giant's software is robust enough to enable capture and processing of the motion data of multiple characters in one simultaneous process, the director can see in real time the live performance on the animated character, in a digital version of the set, with interactive camera and lighting controls. The director and producer walk away from the capture session knowing that they have the performances and the shots they need.

Facilities

Giant Studios provides motion capture with its 25,000 square foot studios and two capture stages in Los Angeles. Giant also has an inventory of multiple camera systems that can be installed on location anywhere in the world.
